U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) has raised concerns about the ongoing mail delivery issues in the St. Louis region, prompting him to take action by reaching out to the United States Postal Service (USPS).

In a letter addressed to USPS Inspector General Tammy Whitcomb Hull, Senator Hawley emphasized the urgency of the situation by highlighting the struggles faced by Missouri residents. He stated, "Recently, a growing number of Missouri residents from the St. Louis area have contacted my office, citing insufficient mail delivery services. For some constituents, the result has been routine delivery delays, while others have not received deliveries at all."

The letter further detailed the impact of these delivery delays on individuals, with one resident in the St. Louis area reportedly going without mail for over three months, leading to financial difficulties for their small business. Senator Hawley added, "Others have described losing access to their prescription medications and Social Security checks."

This is not the first time Senator Hawley has addressed the issue of postal delays in Missouri. Earlier this month, he pressed Postmaster General and USPS CEO Louis DeJoy for updates on the situation in St. Louis and Kansas City, questioning the plans in place to resolve the ongoing problems.

Senator Hawley's proactive approach includes urging an audit of all post offices and distribution centers in St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and St. Louis City to investigate the root causes of the delays and ensure appropriate actions are taken to rectify the situation.

The Senator's letter to Inspector General Hull concluded with a request for a detailed plan and expected timeline to complete the audit of the St. Louis region's post offices by May 13, 2024.

Missourians are eagerly awaiting responses and solutions from the USPS to address the delivery delays that have been affecting their daily lives and businesses.
