U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) released statements today condemning the conviction of former President Trump on all 34 felony counts brought against him by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

"This is America under Democrat rule: prosecuting political opponents whether it’s pro-life Americans or a former President," stated Hawley via Twitter.

He further criticized the trial process, saying, "This 'trial' has been from beginning to end a complete and total sham, a mockery of the criminal justice system, and one of the most dangerous abuses of our political process in American history."

Hawley also drew historical comparisons, asserting, "Not since the Alien and Sedition Acts in the 1790s has a president tried to CRIMINALIZE his political opposition. Congrats, Joe Biden. You’re the worst president ever."

In another tweet, he expressed disbelief at the situation: "If you thought it couldn’t happen in America, you were wrong."

Senator Hawley has consistently condemned what he describes as Democrats’ political persecution of President Trump and referred to District Attorney Bragg’s New York trial as “a hoax of a case.”
