Rep. Jason Smith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri's 8th district, recently addressed several topics through his social media posts. Smith, who has served in Congress since 2013 after replacing Jo Ann Emerson, discussed issues ranging from a tribute to a fallen police officer to significant legislative measures.
On June 6, 2025, Rep. Smith expressed condolences for Bernie Police Officer Eddie Mays saying, "Please join me in praying for Bernie Police Officer Eddie Mays, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty." He praised Mays as "a true American hero" and acknowledged his service in the U.S. Air Force before joining the Bernie Police Department.
Two days later, on June 8, 2025, Smith announced his upcoming appearance on a television program stating, " TUNE IN: At around 10:20 am, I’ll be joining @SundayFutures to discuss President Trump’s One, Big, Beautiful Bill that stops the largest tax hike in U.S. history and delivers the largest spending cuts in U.S. history."
Later that same day, Smith highlighted key points of what he referred to as the "One, Big, Beautiful Bill," mentioning that "77 million Americans voted for… No tax on tips No tax on overtime Tax relief for seniors Historic spending cuts Border security." He emphasized that "Americans want action" and asserted that the bill would deliver these changes.
Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and currently resides in Salem. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS degree and earned a JD from Oklahoma City University.
