Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, has shared insights into a legislative proposal known as "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill" through a series of tweets. This bill appears to address tax reforms and relief measures aimed at different income groups.

On July 3, 2025, Rep. Smith stated that "As a result of The One, Big, Beautiful Bill, the top 1% will pay MORE in federal taxes than they did before TCJA – over 40% of all federal taxes." This suggests a shift in the tax burden towards higher-income earners compared to previous legislation under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).

In another tweet on the same day, he highlighted that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill provides the biggest relief to low-income families." This indicates that one of the primary goals of the bill is to offer financial relief to those with lower incomes.

Further elaborating on tax reductions for middle and lower-income brackets, Smith tweeted that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill will cut taxes for Americans earning under $50,000 by 14.9%." This points to significant tax cuts for individuals within this income range.

Jason Smith has been serving in Congress since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013. He previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St Louis in 1980 and currently residing in Salem, Smith holds degrees from both the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University.
