Rep. Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri's 8th district since 2013, has been vocal on Twitter regarding recent legislative developments that he believes will benefit American families and businesses. The tweets highlight various components of what he refers to as "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill."

On July 9, 2025, Rep. Smith tweeted about an increase in the small business expensing threshold: "Doubling the small business expensing threshold, in The One, Big, Beautiful Bill, to $2.5 million allows farms and small businesses to immediately deduct the cost of both new and used equipment."

In a subsequent tweet on July 10, 2025, Smith discussed tax provisions related to global competitiveness: "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill stopped a scheduled tax increases to GILTI, BEAT, and FDII provisions keeping U.S. companies competitive globally. The provisions helped bring $2.5 trillion back to the U.S. from overseas after 2017 tax reform law."

Later that day on July 10th, Smith addressed how certain tax credits and deductions would impact American families: "40 million families are going to benefit from an increased Child Tax Credit. 91% of Americans will benefit from an increased standard deduction. These are all items that we’re delivering for the American people that President Trump promised."

Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and currently resides in Salem at age 42. He holds degrees from the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University.
