Cost of college went up for all students at Mineral Area College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.2 percent for 2018-19 at Mineral Area College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Missouri residents paid $4,870 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $150 more than the $4,720 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 32 percent more than residents this year, or $6,430. Their price tag grew 2.4 percent from $6,280 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Missouri residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 545 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3 million and 124 students took out student loans totaling more than $554,799.

Including all undergraduates (2,885), 2,169 students used grants or scholarships totaling $8.5 million, and 558 students took out $2.9 million in federal student loans.
