Truman State Women's basketball ended their season in a 68-65 loss to No. 2 seed Lewis in the GLVC Tournament Semifinals.
The Bulldogs outscored the Flyers 19-13 in the first quarter behind eight points from Ellie Weltha. Truman shot 6-10 from the field and 3-6 from three. Truman jumped out to an 8-1 lead with 7:12 left in the quarter, and went on a 12-11 run going into the second.
Lewis clawed back in the second quarter, scoring 20 points to Truman's 18. Hannah Belanger scored 12 points, and Gracie Stugart had six. Truman made six of their 11 shots from the field and went 4-6 from behind the arc.
The Flyers went into the final quarter with a 50-47 lead after outscoring the Bulldogs 17-10 in the third. Truman had a tough time shooting, going 4-15 shooting and 1-4 on 3-point attempts.
Both teams scored 18 points in the fourth quarter, giving Lewis the three-point victory. The Flyers took a 58-50 lead with 5:57 left, and the Bulldogs were unable to get the lead back. Truman shot 8-17 and Ellie Weltha scored seven in the quarter.
Three Bulldogs scored double-digit points, with Ellie Weltha leading all scoring with 17. Weltha added eight rebounds and a steal to her game totals. Gracie Stugart was right behind with 16 along with two rebounds and five assists. Hannah Belanger dropped 12 points, grabbed two boards, and recorded an assist.
Truman State ends the 2022-23 season with a 20-10 record, going 15-5 in GLVC play.
