Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) is preparing for its 26th annual Women’s Health Fair, set to take place on Saturday, February 22, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will focus on the theme “GenERAtions, celebrate your health era!” and will feature various vendors and staff providing information about healthy living.
“We are excited to host this event each year with more vendors, health education and fun,” said Tina Poston, SGCMH marketing and community relations director. “This year we will celebrate the health era for all of our ladies from the Silent Generation to Generation Z!”
The fair will begin with a Candid Coffee Hour where participants can meet Women’s Wellness Services providers while enjoying coffee and pastries. “Our women’s wellness providers will greet ladies as they come in,” stated Poston. “They will be the first providers they see and can take time to discuss healthy habits.”
Exercise classes such as Yoga, Barre Workout, and Total Body Shred will be available to attendees. Educational presentations include topics like heart health by Matthew Bosner, MD and Morgan Ritter, FNP-C; Mona Lisa Touch by Joseph Sharlow, MD and Mary Crecelius, WHNP; life planning by Jason Blum; breast health and genetic testing by Dr. Angela Ware and Mary Crecelius.
Screenings offered at the event include free blood pressure checks, pulmonary function tests, grip strength evaluation with Mid-America Rehab, lipid screenings (cholesterol HDL/LDL), and Vitamin D screenings. Participants need to register for certain screenings by calling 573-883-7791 before February 20.
Various hospital departments will participate in showcasing services available at SGCMH including Cardiac Rehab, Respiratory Therapy, Diagnostic Imaging among others. “Most all of our departments will participate so women can learn how SGCMH services can empower them to lead a healthy lifestyle,” said Poston.
Additional activities include massage therapy sessions, beauty tips workshops, boutique shopping opportunities as well as giveaways throughout the day including door prizes after each speaker presentation.
Poston highlighted that attendees enjoy coming for both the informative sessions as well as entertainment aspects such as photo booths or crafting friendship bracelets representing different healthcare generations: Silent Generation through Generation Z.
