Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital has announced the addition of David Weber to their Board of Trustees, following his successful election on April 8. Weber takes over from Bruce Giesler, who decided not to run for re-election.
Weber expressed enthusiasm for his new role, saying, "This will be interesting. I see this as a great opportunity and I am looking forward to getting started." As the president of the hospital's Friends Foundation, Weber is well-acquainted with the hospital’s operations, which he believes will aid his transition to the board of trustees.
"I’ll have to step down from the Foundation position," Weber stated, "but I hope to be kind of a liaison between the two boards. I think the hospital is as important as our schools and community center. It’s the backbone of healthcare, ensuring the community can stay healthy and live long, quality lives."
Having been part of the community for many years, Weber has a firm grasp of the board's objectives. He recently spoke with Brock Gibson, who joined the board a year ago, about his plans. "Brock and I have recently talked several times, so I’ve gotten to know him," Weber said. "All of us want the hospital to remain successful and independent."
The Ste. Genevieve County Abstract Company owner, Weber, is keen to expand his healthcare knowledge to aid the hospital's growth. "While SGCMH is a not-for-profit, it must operate like any other organization to be financially sustainable," he explained. "This means implementing sound business practices, including budgeting, revenue generation, and efficient resource management, which the board has always done. I’m looking forward to working with this board."
Weber joins other board members: Rod Scherer, Veronica Sharlow, Kurt Basler, and Brock Gibson. Beyond his hospital duties, Weber is actively involved in various community organizations such as the Ste. Genevieve Rotary Club and the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center Board. Together with his wife Laura, they have two grown children and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.
