Saint Francis Healthcare System has been awarded an "A" Hospital Safety Grade by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to patient safety. This recognition is based on more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
Justin Davison, president and CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare System, stated: “Clinical quality and safe patient care are of the utmost importance at Saint Francis. As the region’s only organization with a LeapFrog A rating, we consistently demonstrate our commitment to patients and the community. We are committed to providing world-class care close to home. We are honored by this recognition as we celebrate 150 years of commitment to the community.”
Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, commented on the achievement: “Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety. I extend my congratulations to Saint Francis Healthcare System, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is unique in its focus solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries that result in over 500 deaths daily in the United States. The program is peer-reviewed and fully transparent with updates occurring twice annually.
