Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, has shared details of a legislative proposal through a series of tweets on July 3, 2025. The bill, referred to as "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill," is designed to support families and promote growth.

In his first tweet at 9:39 AM UTC, Smith highlighted that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill supports savings for new families by establishing Trump Investment Accounts for newborns to support growth and advancement."

Following this at 9:50 AM UTC, he tweeted about the bill's impact on adoption by stating that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill increases access to the Adoption Tax Credit, making the credit more usable for all families, opening up more homes to the joys of adoption, and championing the sanctity of life."

Later at 10:01 AM UTC, Smith provided further details on how the bill builds upon existing tax incentives with "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill builds on the Trump Tax Cuts’ incentives for Paid Leave and Childcare." He added that it "strengthens the Paid Family and Medical Leave Credit from the Trump Tax Cuts" and "quadruples the maximum Employer-Provided Childcare Credit and adds additional relief for small businesses."

Smith has been an active member of Congress since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013. Born in St Louis in 1980 and residing in Salem now at age 42, he holds degrees from both the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University.
