Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving Missouri’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, took to social media on July 3, 2025, to express his views regarding Democratic policies and the newly introduced legislative proposal referred to as "The One Big Beautiful Bill."

In a tweet posted at 16:01 UTC, Rep. Smith criticized Democrats for their campaign strategies and policy proposals. He stated that "Democrats spent months on the campaign trail lecturing Americans about what’s 'best' for them. Americans rejected their ideas outright." He further commented on Leader Jeffries' continued opposition by stating that he is "spending hours on the House floor railing against The One Big Beautiful Bill that the American people" support.

Shortly after, at 16:02 UTC, Smith elaborated on the content of "The One Big Beautiful Bill," highlighting its focus on eliminating incentives for certain demographics. He tweeted that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill cuts green virtue-signaling incentives for luxury car buyers and wealthy homeowners."

Later in the day at 16:10 UTC, Rep. Smith emphasized another aspect of the bill aimed at reversing previous Democratic initiatives. His tweet declared that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill rolls back Democratic policies that created permanent subsidies for the green industry."

Smith has been representing Missouri's 8th District since succeeding Jo Ann Emerson in 2013 and has previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St Louis in 1980 and now residing in Salem, he holds degrees from both the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University.
