Rep. Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri's 8th district since 2013, shared insights on the legislative measure known as "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill" through a series of tweets on July 3, 2025. Smith has been active in Congress after replacing Jo Ann Emerson and has previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013.

On July 3, Rep. Smith posted about the bill's implications for tax cuts initiated by former President Trump in 2017. He stated that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill makes President Trump’s pro-worker tax cuts from 2017 permanent, ensuring continued relief for American workers."

In another tweet on the same day, Smith highlighted how the bill would prevent an increase in taxes for working families. He wrote that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill stops a $1,700 tax increase that would have hurt working American families, providing essential relief."

Further discussing its impact on standard deductions for taxpayers, Smith noted that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill prevents the scheduled $15,000 reduction in the guaranteed Standard Deduction, protecting American workers from unnecessary tax hikes." This legislation aims to safeguard workers from potential financial burdens associated with tax policy changes.

Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and currently resides in Salem. He holds a BS degree from the University of Missouri and a JD from Oklahoma City University.
