Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, shared a series of tweets on July 9, 2025, discussing "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill." Smith has been a congressional representative since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013 and previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013.

In his first tweet on July 9 at 15:00 UTC, Rep. Smith stated that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill helps seniors living on fixed incomes, who were some of the most harmed by the skyrocketing prices of 4 years of Bidenflation." He explained that this bill would allow seniors to deduct up to $4,000 in tax obligations as relief from what he described as an "inflation tax."

At 16:01 UTC on the same day, Rep. Smith posted a link without additional commentary or context: https://t.co/HBrCqYuMv3.

Later that day at 16:59 UTC, Rep. Smith expressed gratitude for being present when President Trump signed what he called "the largest tax cut in American history into law." He referred to "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill" as a historic piece of legislation.

Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and resides in Salem. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS degree and later earned a JD from Oklahoma City University.
