Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, recently shared updates on the "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" via social media posts. Smith has been a member of Congress since 2013 after succeeding Jo Ann Emerson and previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013.
On July 9, 2025, Rep. Jason Smith tweeted that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill makes permanent the 20% 199A small business deduction," which is projected to create over one million new jobs for Main Street small businesses annually and generate $750 billion in economic growth at American small businesses.
In a subsequent tweet posted on the same day, Smith stated that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill bolsters American manufacturing by allowing 100% immediate expensing for new factories," as well as improvements to existing factories and other production facilities across the United States.
Later that day, Smith announced through another tweet that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill renewed the Opportunity Zone program permanently." This renewal aims to unlock $100 billion of investment directed towards distressed communities nationwide with an increased focus on truly rural areas.
Jason Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and currently resides in Salem. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001 and later earned a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University in 2004.
