Rep. Jason Smith, who has represented Missouri’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress since 2013, recently posted a series of statements on social media regarding the passage of what he calls the "One, Big, Beautiful Bill." Smith, who succeeded Jo Ann Emerson and previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013, shared his perspective on the bill's significance for the nation under President Trump.

On July 10, 2025, Smith described the legislation as a turning point for the country: "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is a historic victory under President Trump. America is officially turning the page on four years of economic decline and embarking on a new chapter in our nation’s history."

Later that day, Smith highlighted specific provisions within the bill: "Through the One Big Beautiful Bill, Republicans deliver a historic investment in American families, small businesses, manufacturers, and farmers. We deliver the largest one-time investment in border security, the largest cut to mandatory spending, and the largest tax cut in" (July 10, 2025).

In an additional post on July 10, Smith focused on measures intended to support domestic industry: "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill permanently allows businesses to fully expense U.S.-based R&D costs, which will bolster American manufacturing."

Jason Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and currently resides in Salem. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS degree in 2001 and earned his JD from Oklahoma City University in 2004.
