In celebration of its 150th anniversary, Saint Francis Healthcare System undertook a significant service initiative led by the Saint Francis Foundation. The project aimed to combat food insecurity in the region and involved nearly 200 volunteers.

Initially, the goal was to pack 10,000 meals for local families. However, due to strong participation and generosity from colleagues, the target was raised to 25,000 meals. By the end of the project, volunteers packed a total of 153 boxes containing 33,048 meals. These were distributed to Catholic Social Ministry Food Pantry and Southeast Missouri Food Bank to support families in need.

“This project was a beautiful reflection of who we are as a ministry,” said Stacy Huff, Executive Director of Saint Francis Foundation. “We witnessed such compassion, teamwork and joy as our colleagues came together to make a meaningful difference. I couldn’t think of a better way to honor our 150th Anniversary than by serving our community in such a tangible way.”

Volunteer shifts occurred over several days at Fitness Plus Gym with team members from across the organization participating. This effort highlights Saint Francis' ongoing commitment to community health and well-being.
