Saint Francis Healthcare System has announced the launch of the IGNITE Program, a new initiative developed in partnership with Jackson R-2 High School. The program is part of the Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) network, which is recognized across the country for its approach to preparing students for future careers through immersive and innovative learning experiences.

The IGNITE Program is designed for high school juniors and seniors, offering them exposure to various career paths through industry-focused coursework, practical projects, and professional skill development. For the 2025-2026 academic year, 33 students were chosen from a pool of 55 applicants. The program offers three main pathways: education, business, and healthcare.

Participants will combine classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience at Saint Francis. Under the guidance of both their classroom teacher and clinical professionals from Saint Francis, students will gain direct insight into healthcare professions while developing skills that are valuable in any workforce setting.

“Saint Francis is deeply committed to growing the next generation of healthcare professionals,” said Justin Davison, President and CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare System. “By partnering with the Jackson R-2 School District, we are giving students early access to meaningful, hands-on experiences that will prepare them for bright futures and help strengthen the healthcare pipeline for our region.”

The CAPS model aims to benefit not only students but also local businesses and communities by aligning educational opportunities with real-world needs.
