Senator Hawley Press Office has published a series of posts on X highlighting testimonies from families affected by chatbot-related incidents and promoting media appearances.

In a post dated September 16, 2025, the office shared testimony from Jane Doe, whose teenage son was allegedly harmed by an AI chatbot. She stated, "Character AI had exposed [my teenage son] to sexual exploitation, emotional abuse, and manipulation despite our careful parenting . . . We had screen-time limits put up. We had parental controls."

Later the same day, Matthew Raine provided testimony regarding his son Adam's death at age 16. He said in his statement: "Testifying before Congress this fall was not in our life plan. But instead, we're here because we believe that Adam's death (at just 16 years old) was avoidable, & that by speaking out, we can prevent the same suffering for families."

On September 17, 2025, the press office posted an announcement about Senator Hawley's television appearance: "Tune in @FoxNews NOW to catch Senator Hawley’s interview with @JesseBWatters!"

These statements come as public scrutiny grows over the risks associated with artificial intelligence chatbots and their impact on minors. In recent years, lawmakers have increased oversight efforts and held hearings to address concerns about technology platforms’ responsibilities regarding child safety online.
