Rep. Jason Smith addresses Federal Reserve policy and healthcare oversight on social media

Rep. Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 8th district since 2013, posted a series of statements on September 18, 2025, addressing national issues ranging from Federal Reserve policy to social media controversies and healthcare oversight.

Later that day at 15:47 UTC, Smith commented on political reactions surrounding Jimmy Kimmel and referenced actions taken by Democrats in previous years: "Democrats complaining about Jimmy Kimmel magically forget that in 2019 and 2020 they repeatedly pressured social media companies to deplatform the sitting President of the United States. And Democrats cheered when it happened. We haven't forgotten."

At 17:12 UTC, Smith addressed regulatory actions involving organ procurement organizations in Florida: "I applaud @SecKennedy and @HHSGov’s actions to decertify the Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency in Miami, Florida. The Ways and Means Committee has been investigating organ procurement organizations like Life Alliance given serious allegations of Medicare fraud and multiple"

Smith has represented Missouri's 8th District since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in Congress in 2013. He previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 until his election to Congress. Born in St Louis in 1980 and currently residing in Salem, Smith holds degrees from the University of Missouri (BS) and Oklahoma City University (JD).
