The following day, Senator Hawley's office addressed developments regarding artificial intelligence regulation. On September 18, the press office announced: "Hawley Expands Investigation, Demands Documents from Big Tech on AI Chatbot Policies after Hearing
Later that same day, the office posted a statement attributed to Senator Hawley concerning the impact of chatbots and large technology companies: "It's time that the country heard the truth about what these companies are doing, about what these chatbots are engaged in, about the harms that are being inflicted upon our children . . .
