Rep. Jason Smith, who represents Missouri’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on September 23, 2025, highlighting Republican legislative achievements and recent actions regarding health policy.

In a post at 13:06 UTC, Smith stated, "President Trump and Republicans passed the largest tax cut for working families in American history. Republicans are the party of working families, and after passing these tax cuts, our tax code now makes it easier to raise a family in America.."

Later that day at 14:49 UTC, he addressed drug pricing policy: "Americans shouldn’t be forced to subsidize drug costs for the rest of the world. President Trump is putting American patients first by ending the practice of foreign freeriding and protecting our innovation ecosystem."

At 22:06 UTC on the same day, Smith reported collaborative action with fellow lawmakers: "Today, I joined with other members of the Missouri Congressional Delegation in a letter to Governor Mike Kehoe, Missouri Department of Social Services Director Jessica Bax, and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Director Sarah Willson highlighting the Rural Health"

Smith has served as a member of Congress since 2013 after replacing Jo Ann Emerson. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he was part of the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St Louis in 1980 and currently residing in Salem, Smith holds degrees from both the University of Missouri (BS) and Oklahoma City University (JD).
