Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, shared his views on various national issues through a series of tweets on June 13, 2025.

In a tweet posted at 15:30 UTC, Smith commented on Iran's actions and President Trump's approach to diplomacy with the nation. He added that President Trump has offered Iran opportunities for peace but suggested these efforts have not been reciprocated.

Later that day at 16:07 UTC, Smith expressed support for recent legal actions taken by the Department of Justice. He tweeted "I applaud @TheJusticeDept for charging 4 individuals, including 2 USPS employees, involved in a stolen check scheme to steal $80 MILLION in U.S. Treasury Checks." He highlighted the role of the Ways and Means Committee in pushing for accountability among wrongdoers.

At 18:00 UTC, Smith discussed legislative achievements concerning fiscal policy. In his tweet he mentioned "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is the… —> LARGEST tax cut —> LARGEST spending cut —> LARGEST welfare reform IN AMERICAN HISTORY." He emphasized the significance of this bill and encouraged action to finalize it.

Jason Smith was born in St Louis, Missouri in 1980 and currently resides in Salem. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS degree in 2001 and earned a JD from Oklahoma City University in 2004. Before joining Congress in 2013 following Jo Ann Emerson's tenure, he served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013.
