Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, has shared a series of tweets defending "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill." Smith replaced previous U.S Congress member Jo Ann Emerson in 2013 and has been vocal about his support for this bill.

On June 15, 2025, Smith posted a tweet addressing claims made by Democrats regarding the bill's benefits. He stated that it is incorrect to say that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill will solely benefit the rich." Instead, he argued that "This is FALSE." He emphasized that the bill aims to increase American families' income and workers’ wages.

Continuing on June 16, 2025, Smith criticized Democratic policies during their control of Washington. He claimed they enacted policies benefiting special interests while stating "Democrats love to claim they’re in favor of raising taxes on the rich." In contrast, he promoted "The One, Big," suggesting it provides more equitable solutions.

Later on the same day, Smith targeted universities such as Harvard for failing their tax-exempt purpose yet enjoying favorable tax treatment. He announced that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill revises this favorable treatment" by targeting universities with substantial endowments.

Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and now resides in Salem. His educational background includes a BS from the University of Missouri and a JD from Oklahoma City University.
