Rep. Jason Smith, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th District since 2013, recently shared insights on legislative developments via social media. Born in St Louis, Missouri, and a graduate of the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University, Smith replaced Jo Ann Emerson in Congress and continues to represent his district from Salem.

On June 19, 2025, Rep. Smith highlighted a key aspect of President Trump's promise regarding taxation on tips. He stated that "President Trump promised no tax on tips to deliver relief to the over 4 million tipped employees in our country." He noted that the House-passed One, Big, Beautiful Bill aims to repeal taxes on tipped income, allowing workers to retain more of their earnings.

The following day, June 20, 2025, Smith turned his attention to agricultural issues. He emphasized that "For too long, our farmers who put food on grocery shelves and kitchen tables have been forgotten by Washington." According to him, The One, Big, Beautiful Bill seeks to address this by providing over $10 billion in tax relief for farmers.

In another post on June 20, Smith discussed broader economic impacts of the legislation. He claimed that "Not only does the House-passed One, Big, Beautiful Bill deliver tax relief for ALL Americans," but it also safeguards millions of jobs at risk if the continuation of the 2017 Trump tax cuts is not ensured.
