Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, has been vocal about recent legislative developments through a series of tweets. His comments center around the House-passed "One, Big, Beautiful Bill," which he claims provides significant benefits to family farmers and addresses key economic issues faced by families.

On June 20, 2025, Rep. Smith highlighted that "The House-passed One, Big, Beautiful Bill delivers many wins for family farmers across the nation." He emphasized that the bill increases the Death Tax exemption, extends 100% expensing, and cements doubled small business expensing.

In another tweet on June 21, 2025, Smith pointed out that "Nearly 700,000 families in Missouri claim the Child Tax Credit." He warned against allowing this credit to expire due to its potential impact on families affected by what he termed "Bidenflation." He stated that the House version of the bill would not only maintain but also enhance this tax credit.

Later that day, Smith noted that "The House version of The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is the single largest cut to mandatory spending in American history."

Jason Smith has served in Congress since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013. Prior to his current role, he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St Louis in 1980 and now residing in Salem, Smith holds degrees from both the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University.
