Rep. Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri's 8th district since 2013, recently shared insights on "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill" through a series of tweets. The bill aims to provide financial relief and support to American families.

On July 3, 2025, Rep. Smith tweeted about the bill's impact on the Standard Deduction: "Making permanent the doubled guaranteed Standard Deduction in The One, Big, Beautiful Bill stops a scheduled $15,000 cut in this deduction for families."

In another tweet posted shortly after, he emphasized enhancements to the Child Tax Credit: "Not only does The One, Big, Beautiful Bill stop a $1,000 per child reduction in the Child Tax Credit, but it enhances it and makes it permanent."

Further elaborating on July 3rd as well, Smith highlighted additional measures within the bill aimed at supporting families affected by inflation: "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill supports American families recovering from Bidenflation by increasing the Child Tax Credit by $200 per child and indexes the CTC for inflation moving forward. It also extends the Child SSN requirement and adds additional SSN requirements for parents."

Jason Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and currently resides in Salem. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS degree in 2001 and earned his JD from Oklahoma City University in 2004.
