He stated that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill eliminates income taxes on up to $12,500 of overtime pay premium for the over 80 million hourly workers," which he noted would result in an income boost of $1,400 for these workers.

Jason Smith has served in Congress since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013. Prior to his congressional tenure, he was part of the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 until his election to Congress. Born in St Louis in 1980 and now residing in Salem at age 42, Smith holds degrees from both the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University.
