Rep. Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 8th district since 2013, has recently shared insights into the legislative measures encompassed in "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill." The bill addresses various concerns related to U.S. tax credits and IRS programs.
On July 3, 2025, Rep. Smith stated that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill prohibits China from benefiting from U.S. green energy tax credits." This measure aims to prevent foreign entities from gaining advantages intended for domestic growth in renewable energy sectors.
In another post on the same day, Smith announced that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill shuts down the fraud-ridden Employee Retention Tax Credit program from the COVID era." The decision reflects efforts to address and rectify misuse within financial support systems established during the pandemic.
Later that day, Smith further detailed that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill eliminates the IRS Direct File Program, keeping the IRS from being Americans's tax preparer, filer, and auditor." This move is intended to maintain separation between taxpayers and the agency responsible for tax collection and enforcement.
Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and currently resides in Salem. He holds a BS from the University of Missouri and a JD from Oklahoma City University.
