Rep. Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri's 8th district since 2013, recently shared his views on economic policies and the role of government financial estimates through a series of tweets.

On July 7, 2025, Rep. Smith stated that "For years, Americans have faced record inflation and rising costs." He introduced "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill" as a solution to these issues by implementing pro-growth policies that would allow Americans to retain more of their earnings. Later that day, he expressed skepticism about the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), citing its historical inaccuracies. Smith noted that the CBO's revenue estimate from the 2017 Trump tax cuts was off by $1.7 trillion and criticized its cost estimation for the Inflation Reduction Act at $282 billion. "The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has a track record of being inaccurate and inconsistent."

In another tweet posted on the same day, Rep. Smith emphasized the benefits of "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill," stating it is advantageous for various sectors including farmers, Main Street businesses, workers, and families across America. "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is a win for America."
