Rep. Jason Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district, shared a series of tweets on July 7, 2025, addressing recent events and legislative matters. On July 7, at 2:01 AM UTC, Rep. Jason Smith expressed his condolences regarding the severe floods in Texas. He stated, "Sending my prayers to the precious lives lost, and their families, due to the catastrophic floods in Texas, as well as, everyone impacted by this tragedy." He also extended gratitude towards first responders for their continuous efforts during the crisis.

Later that day at 12:10 PM UTC, Smith highlighted his speech on the House Floor concerning significant legislation known as The One, Big, Beautiful Bill. He noted its importance by stating "ICYMI: I spoke on the House Floor about how historic The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is and the real relief it will bring Americans."
