On July 8, 2025, Smith tweeted about his recent appearance on Sunday Futures where he discussed the benefits of President Trump's bill. He stated that "ICYMI: I joined @SundayFutures to discuss President Trump's One, Big, Beautiful Bill and how ALL Americans will benefit from the historic wins this bill delivers!"

Later that day, Smith highlighted specific financial impacts of the bill on his constituents in Missouri’s 8th District. He tweeted that "On top of stopping a $1,200 tax increase, The One, Big, Beautiful Bill cuts taxes for the average family in Missouri’s 8th District nearly $1,300."

In another tweet posted on July 8th at 19:06 UTC, Smith emphasized a significant provision within the bill concerning overtime work. He noted that "Over 80 million American workers will benefit from the no tax on overtime provision within The One, Big, Beautiful Bill." Additionally commenting on President Trump’s commitment to laborers by stating "President Trump promised to be pro-worker and he is delivering on that promise!"

Jason Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and resides in Salem. A graduate of the University of Missouri with a BS degree earned in 2001 and a JD from Oklahoma City University acquired in 2004. Prior to his tenure in Congress starting in 2013 after replacing Jo Ann Emerson; he served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 until taking office federally.
