On July 15, 2025, Smith announced his upcoming appearance on Newsmax to discuss President Trump’s economic policies. He stated: "TUNE IN: Shortly, I'll be joining @NEWSMAX to discuss President Trump's historic work to unleash an economic Golden Age!"

Later that day, Smith criticized the Biden Administration’s approach to trade and domestic policy regarding American producers. In his post he wrote: "The Biden Administration sold American farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses out on the global stage. What President Trump and his Administration are doing, is defending American producers which will benefit the American economy." This statement was posted at 16:42 UTC.

In a subsequent message posted at 17:22 UTC on July 15, Smith referenced a legislative proposal known as "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill," arguing for its potential economic impact. He said: "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill will unleash an economic Golden Age. The same naysayers that underestimated revenues from the 2017 Trump tax cuts by $1.7 trillion, are basing their estimates for this bill off of a growth rate that is a whole percentage point lower than the 50 year"

Smith succeeded Jo Ann Emerson in Congress in 2013 after serving eight years in Missouri’s state legislature. He holds degrees from both the University of Missouri (BS) and Oklahoma City University (JD).
