U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Congressman Riley Moore (R-W.Va.) have introduced a resolution that condemns the global persecution of Christians. The resolution calls attention to religious liberty, emphasizing the need for action against violence targeting Christians.
Senator Hawley stated, "Our country was founded on religious liberty. We cannot sit on the sidelines as Christians around the world are being persecuted for declaring Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We must condemn these heinous crimes." He highlighted the severe situation in Nigeria, where thousands of Christians have been murdered and millions displaced.
Congressman Moore added his concerns about worldwide Christian persecution, noting incidents like an attack during a Divine Liturgy in Damascus by an Islamic jihadist that resulted in numerous casualties. He criticized past U.S. foreign policy decisions for worsening conditions in countries like Iraq.
The resolution has received support from various organizations, including ADF International, Heritage Action for America, and others dedicated to defending religious freedom.
