U.S. Senator Josh Hawley announced the successful cancelation of a $5 billion loan for the Grain Belt Express project in Missouri. The decision came after Senator Hawley's request to the Department of Energy, which agreed to withdraw taxpayer funding from this green transmission initiative.

The Grain Belt Express had faced criticism for taking land from Missouri farmers across eight counties, while reportedly benefiting Invenergy, its parent company. The project's federal loan guarantee was halted following a commitment by DOE Secretary Chris Wright to stop the project.

Senator Hawley had previously urged the Department of Energy through letters sent in March and June to cancel the loan. He emphasized his ongoing efforts against federal confiscation of property in Missouri.
