Rep. Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 8th district since 2013, posted on his Twitter account about the passage of the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill,” which he describes as historic tax relief for working-class Americans.
On July 28, 2025, Smith stated, "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is pro-worker, pro-growth tax policy that makes a difference in the lives of working class Americans. Tipped workers, hourly workers, seniors, and farmers all benefit from the historic tax relief delivered in this bill." Later that day, he credited Republican leadership and former President Trump for preventing a tax hike and delivering what he called the largest tax cut in American history: "As I said from the beginning, failure was not an option. Thanks to President Trump and Republicans, Americans no longer have to worry about a looming tax hike, and instead, will receive the largest tax cut in American history." In another post on July 28, Smith added that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill makes permanent pro-growth, pro-worker tax policies that will create jobs, grow wages, and unleash American economic prosperity."
Smith has represented Missouri’s 8th District in Congress since 2013 after replacing Jo Ann Emerson. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St. Louis in 1980 and currently residing in Salem at age 42, Smith holds a BS from the University of Missouri (2001) and a JD from Oklahoma City University (2004).
