Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center - September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month!

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Ovarian Cancer is the second most common cancer in women and causes more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system. 

Signs and Symptoms: 

• pain or pressure in pelvic area.

• feeling bloated 

• pain in your stomach or back.

• changes in bathroom habits 

• feeling too full after eating.

2 tests used to screen for Ovarian Cancer are transvaginal ultrasound and the CA-125 blood test. 

Pay attention to your body, and know what is normal for you. If you notice any changes in your body that are not normal for you, speak with your doctor and get screened!
