WASHINGTON – On April 21, U.S. Representative Jason Smith (Mo.) voted to protect women's sports and combat the Left’s radical gender ideology agenda. The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, legislation he proudly coauthored in the last Congress, ensures that biological females compete against other biological females in women's sports that are operated, sponsored, or facilitated by a recipient of federal funding.

“Biological males have no business competing in female sports, period. By passing this legislation, Republicans are taking action to ensure female athletes have a level playing field when they step onto the track or jump into the pool. I’m proud to stand with parents and female athletes who are rightly outraged over the Left’s obsession with forcing their radical trans agenda on sports, schools, libraries, and just about every aspect of society,” said Smith.

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act gives females a fair playing field in sports by making sure that school athletics comply with the Title IX recognition of a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth. Since Title IX was enacted 50 years ago, female participation in sports has increased 1,057% at the high school level and 614% percent at the postsecondary level. Title IX revolutionized women’s sports, but unfortunately, that progress is under threat today.

Later this year, the Biden administration will finalize regulations that will likely force schools to allow biological males to compete in women’s sports. As House and Senate Republicans lead the fight at the federal level, many states – including Missouri – are taking action to prevent boys and young men from competing in girls and women’s sports.
