U.S. Representative Jason Smith (Mo.) released a statement today regarding the verdict in New York v. Trump. Smith stated, "As president, Donald Trump was targeted by the radical Left who were intent on taking him out by any means necessary. This case was brought against him by a left-wing prosecutor who ran for office promising to bring charges against President Trump; it was overseen by a left-wing judge whose own daughter was helping Democrat politicians fundraise off the trial; and it was held in one of the most liberal cities in America. The weaponization of the legal system against the president is nothing more than a continuation of the witch hunt Washington Democrats pursued while he was in office."

Smith continued, "What yesterday’s verdict makes clear is that liberals are intent on using any means necessary to stop their political opponents. While President Trump’s case will rightly be overturned on appeal, this whole sham process has been about one thing: the Biden administration’s allies using the government to silence their political opponents. But instead of accepting this verdict, Americans are rightly furious about the process Democrat politicians have used. And we will make our voices heard loud and clear in support of President Trump and in opposition to this election interference."
