Rep. Jason Smith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 8th district since 2013, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing recent economic data and legislative achievements.

On July 30, 2025, Smith wrote, "For the last six months, Democrats and leftwing media falsely claimed President Trump's economic policies would shrink the economy.

Today's GDP report showing 3% growth for Q2 is an important reminder: never bet against America or President Trump.

President Trump’s America".

Later that day, he added, "The Congressional Budget Office claimed The One, Big, Beautiful Bill would explode deficits because of lower-than-expected economic growth. Well, today's GDP report shows explosive economic growth of 3% under President Trump's economic policies, higher than economists projected."

On July 31, Smith highlighted the anniversary of major federal health programs and recent legislative action: "Sixty years since their establishment, Medicare and Medicaid today provide vital health care coverage for over 160 million Americans.

With The One, Big, Beautiful Bill, Congress made the most significant improvements to the social safety net in a generation – protecting these".

Smith has represented Missouri's 8th District in Congress since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St Louis in 1980 and currently residing in Salem at age 42, Smith holds a BS from the University of Missouri (2001) and a JD from Oklahoma City University (2004).
