Rep. Jason Smith, who represents Missouri’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates from his meetings with agricultural producers and commented on national energy policy through a series of posts on X.

On August 17, 2025, Smith posted about his meeting with pork producers at the Missouri State Fair: "I had the opportunity to talk to the Missouri Pork Producers at the Missouri State Fair where we discussed how Congress can work to pass policies that support American pork producers.

For too long, bureaucratic red tape and inadequate responses to issues producers faced have https://t.co/IrYBPQ5SQe".

Later that day, he also met with cattlemen at the same event. In his post dated August 17, 2025, Smith wrote: "I had the pleasure of stopping by the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association at the State Fair where I had the opportunity to grill some beef with them and discuss issues that effect them at the Federal level.

We also discussed the policies passed in The One, Big, Beautiful Bill that https://t.co/ghWaUcBWuE".

The following day, on August 18, 2025, Smith commented on energy prices under former President Trump: "Under President Trump, gas prices have fallen to a 20-year low.

It turns out that when a President doesn’t declare war on American-made energy, it reaps benefits for ALL Americans."

Smith has served as a member of Congress since 2013 after replacing Jo Ann Emerson. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St. Louis in 1980 and currently residing in Salem, Smith holds degrees from both the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University.
