Rep. Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 8th district since 2013, recently shared updates and commentary on social media regarding his activities in the district, national trade policy, and a high-profile appointment.
On August 18, Smith posted about his recent travels throughout Missouri’s 8th District, stating: "Traveling throughout the communities I have the honor to represent, I’ve spoken with folks from all around Missouri’s 8th District. Whether it is a farmer, a small business owner, or a mother, one thing that I consistently hear is how The One, Big, Beautiful Bill gives them hope".
The following day, Smith commented on President Trump’s approach to international trade: "President Trump embarked on a bold mission to reset our global trade relationships on Liberation Day. While the Democrats claimed this would crash our economy, the exact opposite has happened. Our country has brought in record tariff revenue, while protecting the interests of".

Smith was born in St Louis in 1980 and currently resides in Salem. Before serving in Congress since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013, he held office in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. He earned degrees from the University of Missouri and Oklahoma City University.
