Rep. Jason Smith discusses new tax bill and border policy on social media

Rep. Jason Smith, who represents Missouri’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media platform regarding legislative developments and the current administration’s policies.

On August 20, 2025, Smith highlighted new tax legislation aimed at supporting American farmers. He stated, "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill delivers historic tax relief for our nation’s farmers. Key provisions, like enhanced Death Tax relief and the 199A small business deduction, are made permanent under this law and will give America's farmers the certainty and tools they need to secure https://t.co/zFxlN1QtaL".

The following day, on August 21, 2025, Smith commented on immigration policy under President Trump’s administration: "Six months into his administration, President Trump has already done what Joe Biden couldn’t do in 4 years. Our southern border has had ZERO illegal immigrants released into our country for multiple months."

Later that same day, Smith referenced feedback from constituents regarding the recent tax bill: "Over the past month, I’ve heard from countless farmers, families, and small business owners that have told me how excited they are that Congress passed The One, Big, Beautiful Bill. While Democrats continue to spread lies about this new law, working class Americans, whose ideas".

Jason Smith has served in Congress since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013 and previously held office in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St Louis in 1980 and currently residing in Salem at age 42, Smith graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS degree before earning a JD from Oklahoma City University.
