On August 20, 2025, Smith highlighted new tax legislation aimed at supporting American farmers. He stated, "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill delivers historic tax relief for our nation’s farmers. The following day, on August 21, 2025, Smith commented on immigration policy under President Trump’s administration: "Six months into his administration, President Trump has already done what Joe Biden couldn’t do in 4 years. Our southern border has had ZERO illegal immigrants released into our country for multiple months."

Jason Smith has served in Congress since replacing Jo Ann Emerson in 2013 and previously held office in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St Louis in 1980 and currently residing in Salem at age 42, Smith graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS degree before earning a JD from Oklahoma City University.
