Rep. Jason Smith, who represents Missouri’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to discuss a range of topics from media appearances to legislative priorities and criticisms of opposing party members.

On September 4, 2025, Smith announced a scheduled appearance on a news network, stating, "TUNE IN: At around 8:45 am, I’ll be joining @NEWSMAX!" (posted at 12:20 UTC).

Later that day, Smith addressed political divisions regarding public safety and immigration policy. In a tweet posted at 13:53 UTC, he wrote, "Democrats’ latest episode of TDS has them siding with criminals and illegal immigrants over American citizens who want law and order and, most importantly, safety in our big cities."

At 14:55 UTC the same day, Smith highlighted elements of a legislative proposal he described as beneficial for working families. He stated, "The heart of The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is tax relief for working families.

Whether it’s the expanded and cemented Child Tax Credit, no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, paid parental leave, the policies in this bill benefit working families the most."

Smith has represented Missouri's 8th district since 2013 after succeeding Jo Ann Emerson. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2005 to 2013. Born in St Louis in 1980 and currently residing in Salem at age 42, Smith holds degrees from the University of Missouri (BS) and Oklahoma City University (JD).
