Rep. Jason Smith, U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 8th district since 2013, recently used his social media platform to address issues involving immigration enforcement and government funding negotiations.
On September 4, 2025, Smith highlighted ongoing concerns regarding violence against ICE officers in Los Angeles earlier that summer. He stated, "Congress has not forgotten about the illegal harassment and violence against brave ICE immigration enforcement officers in Los Angeles that took place this summer. That’s why I am DEMANDING records from The People’s Forum, a Chinese Communist Party-linked organization, to https://t.co/aTGQwAGxMr".
In another post on the same day, Smith addressed the status of federal budget negotiations, writing: "Republicans are united and working together to fund the government in a responsible manner. Senator Schumer and the Democrats are the ones signaling that they want to shut things down for purely political reasons because they don't want to work with President Trump.
